Here is a list of venues where we have shown at,and our opinions.
Open and Champ Show venues:
NEC Birmingham: The home of Crufts, and a venue that we will never forget. Glen was placed 3rd in Undergraduate on his Crufts debut. So much to see and do. Recommend anyone to have a day at the biggest dog show in the world. If you want to have a good look around Crufts it is maybe better to have one day there for looking around and one day for showing your dog?
Newark,Notts Showground. Like showing here out doors, but indoors we are not so keen. We have quite a few Open Shows at this venue, easy to get to for us time wise.
Springfields Ex Centre, Spalding. Small and compact show area, facilities very good, with shopping retail outlet next door. This venue is on our doorstep almost.
Leisure Centre, Market Deeping. Typical Leisure Centre facilities, indoor rings looked small, luckily when we were there our classes were outsite on the basketball courts.
Leisure Centre,Littleport nr Ely. Shown here both indoor and outdoor. Typical leisure centre facilities. East Anglian BCC Open Show venue, subect to availability I think.
Lockmeadow Market,Maidstone. When we showed here we were outdoors until the heavens opened, rings not over big. We ended up in the adjoining Lower Level of the Multi Storey car park only to be moved back inside the main market hall.
Larkfield Village Hall,Nr Maidstone. Venue for the Southern BCC Open Show where we won the Brace Class. Small and compact but, excellent hospitality
Woodgreen Eq Centre, Godmanchester,Cambs. Indoor Arena. Toilet and Catering facilities very good. You can also have a look at the dog/pet rescue centre while your there.
Sports Connextion,Ryton on Dunsmore Nr Coventry. Indoor rings were very small.Probably a bit to small for Border Collies, but then its the same for everyone, you just have to grin and bare it. Typical Leisure Centre Facilities, probably our least favourite venue.
Suffolk Showground,Ipswich. We were outdoors on our first visit here. Rings not over big but a lovely day. Bit of a route march to the toilets.
Norfolk Showground,Norwich. Indoors when we went here for the first time.Nice venue.
Staffordshire Showground, Stafford. This venue will always be remembered by us as this was where Glen qualified for Crufts(our first ever Crufts qualifier). Facilities typical of a County Showground.
Low Farm,Easton Maudit Nr Wellingborough. Farm yard venue, when we showed here the BC classes were in a tractor shed. Portaloos and Mobile food outlets. Nice gravel track to walk your dogs after they have done showing.
College Eques Centre, Keysoe, Beds. Typical Equestrian Centre.
Towerlands Eq Centre, Braintree,Essex. As above, most equestrian centres we have shown at have decent toilet facilities and usualy a canteen.
Sacrewell Farm and Country Cntr, Nr Peterborough. Showed outdoors here, nice setting for a dog show. Also a Farm to have a look round if you feel like it. Canteen on site.
Weatherby Racecourse. This was the venue for Driffield Champ Show. Portaloos and usual outdoor catering facilities. Nice sized rings. Did'nt get placed, but a good day out and all good for the experience.
Newmarket Racecourse. Boiling hot day when we first showed here. Lovely setting, grass as expected imaculatly cut,it is after all the home of horse racing.Never had a lot of success at this veue but it is however one of our favourites.
Horncastle TownHall,Lincs. Basic facilities,o.k for a small Open Show.
Asfordby Sports Club,Nr Melton Mowbray. We were outdoors at this venue and got soaked as it rained all the time.
ILPH EqCentre,Snetterton. Ditto what as been said about other Horse Centres, usual facilities. Nice to see there is a good home for horses to be rescued and looked after.
Newby Hall,Ripon,Yorks. Home of the Darlington Champ Show. Our first visit to a champ show. Lovely setting.Mobile catering and toilet facillities. Good sized rings, enjoyed the day out here even though we were not placed,ah well never mind!
Breckland Leisure Centre, Thetford ,Norfolk. Small rings at this venue. Usual Leisure Centre facilities.
Bretby Conference Centre,Nr Burton on Trent. MBCC CH Show Venue. Good size rings with carpet floor. Car parking very good.
East of England Showground, Peterborough. Glen was at this venue for the EoE Champ Show. Rings were in open sided marques, and of good size. There is a new exibition building as well for the best in show etc. Car park very good, tarmac and gravel. Was raining most of the time on our day here though.Good venue.
Stags Holt Equestrian Centre,nr March Cambs: Smallish venue for a Open Show.Facilities are not bad. Car parking could be a problem if to many people entered. Luckily we were outside in a large ring, indoor rings looked fairly small.
Companion Show Venues:
Wards Park, Moulton Lincs. Venue of Country Fair. Large gras field. Portable toilet facilities, ample parking.
Wadenoe House, Oundle,Nr Peterborough. Nice setting for CDS. 2 x good size rings, good parking. Good toilet facilities.
